GMS Maintains BVQI ISO 9001:2015 Certificate for Eleventh Consecutive Year

GMS, the world’s largest buyer of ships and offshore assets for recycling, has successfully maintained its Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management Systems for the eleventh consecutive year. GMS is the first and only buyer of ships and offshore assets to have received this certification.

Under the leadership of Ms. Christine Sheetz, GMS passed the annual auditing and certification procedures with full compliance, underscoring their long-standing emphasis on the importance of international standards in their drive to improve quality, safety and environmental standards in ship recycling.

Dr. Anil Sharma, President and CEO, GMS commented: “I am extremely proud of the team at GMS for maintaining this certification for the eleventh consecutive year. Ship owners are becoming increasingly focused on ensuring that they sell their vessels for responsible recycling at ISO certified green yards, but they often do not consider the credentials of the buyer they are working with and with whom they have the contractual obligations. Our ISO certified standards demonstrate GMS’s consistency in quality throughout the recycling process and sets us apart among buyers of ships and offshore assets.”
